Our Team
Walter T. Kazmierczak – Co Founder, Managing Director
Walter leads strategy and business development to maintain the firm’s position as a leading provider of bespoke intelligence, advisory, and case management services to Global 1000 corporations.
Prior to Inspectel Walter spent 20 years operating in global media, communications, and technology markets leading strategic finance and enterprise operations from the C-suite as a Chief Audit Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Operating Officer, and driving growth and new venture development as General Manager and Publisher at Fortune 500 and Private Equity portfolio-companies. He holds an MBA in Finance from Suffolk University and a BA in Economics from Yale.
Ella G. Welz – Co Founder
Ms. Welz has been responsible for developing Inspectel’s intellectual property, assuring the firm’s compliance with laws and regulations, and managing industry and tax-authority relations. Ella spent 30 years in law and tax as Senior Counsel in Corporate Tax at John Hancock Financial Services, Inc., Tax Law Associate at Rackeman, Sawyer & Brewster, and Tax Specialist at Coopers & Lybrand. Ella earned her J.D. at Northeastern University’s School of Law, Masters of Laws in Taxation (L.L.M.) at Boston University School of Law, and Bachelor of Arts at Harvard.
Brian L. Trotier, J.D. – Associate Director
Brian Trotier is an expert in California sales & use tax law and practiced in the business of institutional real estate investment. Brian manages Inspectel’s west-coast operations and specialized real-estate tax services nationwide. His background in real-estate industries includes serving as EVP & COO of FREA, the nation’s largest organization of real estate industry professionals, and NDC Data, a real-estate business-intelligence firm. Brian is a graduate of Yale University and received his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati.
Reinhardt Lange, CPA, CFF – Associate Director
Reinhardt Lange leads Inspectel’s initiative for the provision of technlogy-tax audit and assurance services to public utilities, State governments, NGO’s, and non-profit organizations. Reine has been an accounting professional for 30 years and began his career at KPMG. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants, and is Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF). Reine received a BS in Accounting from Northern Illinois University.
James B. Downey, CPA, MS Taxation – Associate Director
James Downey is a tax, audit, and risk-management professional responsible for preparing Inspectel client’s technology-tax refund claims. Jim has been an accounting professional for 40 years, is a veteran of Big 4 accounting firm KPMG, and Founder of Downey & Company. Adept in SEC reporting, SOX compliance, and accounting for complex transactions, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. Jim holds BS Accounting and MS Taxation degrees from Bentley University.
Gerald M. Wrynn, J.D. – Associate Director
Gerald Wrynn provides case-sensitive tax-controversy resolution services to Inspectel. Gerry is an attorney at Ferguson & Cohen, a member of the Probate and Trust Law Section of the American Bar Association, The Real Property, The Trust and Estates and Elder Law Sections of the New York State Bar Association, the Greenwich, Connecticut, Westchester County (NY), and Queens County (NY) Bar Associations. He is a frequent lecturer before numerous groups, corporations, and associations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, on corporate taxation. Gerry holds BS Economics and J.D. degrees from St. John’s University.

Michael J. Mazzone, J.D.
A Partner at Haynes and Boone, LLP, Michael Mazzone is a leading U.S. litigator specializing in Environmental Law representing Fortune 100 energy and industrial clients. Michael is licensed to practice in Louisiana, Texas, and Massachusetts, all federal courts in Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the United States Supreme Court, is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law, and is a member of the American Arbitration Association’s National Panel of Arbitrators. Michael received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina, attended graduate school at the University of Michigan, and earned his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.
Gene Fisch Jr.
Gene is Chief Financial Officer of global asset management firm Alpha Innovations Ltd. An economist expert in international business and M&A, early in his career Gene was one of a two-person team that created the first global offshore hedge fund at Furman Selz which invested in equity and debt products worldwide across 10+ currencies and was one of the first businessmen to penetrate Mainland China through US equity partnerships. His 20-year career spans both buy and sell sides, fund development, and equity research at top-tier Wall Street firms including Paine Weber and ING Barings, and as co-founder of FS Capital. Gene holds a BS in Business Economics from the State University of New York, MBA in International Business from Adelphi University, and Masters of Engineering from MIT.
